Remembering Tudor Antoniu Bucea

On Saturday 1st April 2023 Tudor Antoniu Bucea was remembered when Poetry Sydney partnered with the Australian Romanian Academy to produce a literary arts event, celebrating the cultural significance of Mihai Eminescu, as the National Poet of Romania, at the State Library of New South Wales. Tudor founded The Eminescu Poetry and Art Festival in June 2009 with a program staged for a week at TAP Gallery as a cultural exchange between Australia and Romania. His book The Poetry of Tudor Antoniu Bucea was published on 20th March 2022 and has since been reprinted. It can be purchased here for $25 (free shipping), by emailing quantity and address details to:

A Broker of Cultures: Australia and France
Amid the considerable global changes and disruptions we are reexamining how we communicate and what it means to experience the world through art and design.  For the Running TAP Book Project, we celebrate the accomplishment of human capability of Yves Hernot’s French and Australian cultural relations being recognised in the National Order of Merit by the President of the French Republic, Mr Macron.  The Award is for Yves longstanding commitment to creativity and cultural exchanges of communities within the two Countries.  We congratulate Yves on this lifetime achievement and extend our wholehearted gratitude for his participation and contribution to the arts in our community.

Yves has demonstrated his own artistic expression as a photographer featuring in a number of expositions at Tap Gallery including a surrealistic solo-exhibition Under Construction (2011).  His patronage continues as does his passion for the arts of today as founder of The Yves Hernot Prize Photographic competition, hosted online in April at Courrier Australien, judge of annual exhibitions including Nudes on TAP as part of the HEAD ON Photo Festival, 16-22 November 2021, at TAP Gallery. Yves has become a collector of objects and contemporary Australian and First Nations art.  Autraliana continues to grow and it is Yves intention to donate the collection to an Australian museum in NSW.  The generousity of Yves Hernot extends to the Running TAP Book Project, in which he is an instrumental philanthropic supporter.  We acknowledge his leading role and foundation dedication to the realisation of this landmark community Book Project.  You are a Running TAP Book Project Champion!

Yves Hernot generously sponsors our Book Project – March 2021

Monsieur Yves Hernot continues to be a huge supporter of TAP Art Gallery and is sponsoring our book project by generously donating $500.

On Saturday 27th February 2021, in true Mardi Gras tradition the annual “OUTLOUD‘ Exhibition took place at TAP Art Gallery, opened by Yves who also, generously, financed the First and Second prizewinners by awarding his Prix Yves Hernot of $500 to First Place winner, Kit Ball for his striking oil portrait “Untitled” and $200 to the Runner-up, Martin Davidson for his amazing night photograph of “The Oxford Hotel”.

Yves then wrote another article for the international newspaper Le Courrier Australien on the event. In this he stresses the hardships and struggles that artists are facing during the pandemic and how he sees the importance of community events such as this and how TAP Gallery is helping these struggling artists by holding them, despite struggling to survive itself.
